Mrs. Amy Geffers | Principal

I have been blessed to be part of the Lourdes family for more than 10 years. I spent my first seven years teaching at the first and third grade levels and moved into the principal role at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year.

I have been married to my husband Dan for thirteen years and we are the proud parents of two amazing daughters. Our oldest daughter is in middle school, and our youngest is here at the elementary school. We are very fortunate to have our daughters attend Lourdes Academy!

When we are not busy with school, our family enjoys taking walks, traveling and spending time with our friends and extended families!

Random thoughts from Mrs. Geffers
What are some pets you’ve had or would like to own?  I think owning a monkey would be super fun! (I'm not sure about the smell, though...)

What would your last meal be? If I could choose my last meal, it would be pizza and pancakes! Not just any pizza and pancakes, though....I would have Congress Pizza, from my favorite place in Michigan, and my grandma's special "Big Pancakes". (I might have cake, too.)

Mrs. Kristin Kowalske | Administrative Assistant

I moved to Oshkosh from Madison in 2005. My husband and daughter and I love to enjoy the lakes during the summer. We also do quite a bit of traveling and love the beaches of Mexico. We have a cat named CC who loves to travel all over the neighborhood.

I joined the Lourdes Family when my daughter was 3 and I was looking for a preschool for her. A friend, who was a teacher here, recommended I look into the Early Learning Center for her and I never looked anywhere else!  Rachael started Preschool at the Cabrini site in 2012 and I started volunteering at school. As the years went by, I volunteered more, started subbing in the office and eventually was hired to work part time in the office. In the summer of 2018 I took on the full time Administrative Assistant position when Mrs. Zweiger retired.

I absolutely love the daily challenges in the office and the opportunity to interact with our students and parents. It’s such a blessing to see our smallest students grow from needing band aids and ice packs for everything to the responsible 4th graders that move over to the middle school.

Mrs. Pollyanna Kilde | Administrative Assistant

Lourdes Academy has been a part of our family since 2006 when our oldest daughter began 3PK; we have been blessed that our next three children followed in her path. I have always loved the community that Lourdes provides for our families, and I am honored to experience our system from a different persective this year. Personally, I enjoy reading, bicycling, and exploring the outdoors. Stop into the elementary school to introduce yourself or say hello if we've already be acquainted.

Random thoughts by Mrs. Kilde

What would the students be surprised to find out about you? I like to ride my bike really long distances, 50-100 miles a couple times a year. The most challenging has been Race the Lake, a 90ish mile ride all the way around Lake Winnebago each August.

What are your “trapped on a desert island” books or movies? Anne of Green Gables, both the books and the movies. Our oldest daughter’s middle name is Anne, with an ‘e,’ just because of this character!

If you could grow up in any decade, which would you choose? Maybe not a decade per say, but I always wanted to live in the country and still do!

Ms. Sara Jungwirth | Daycare Director

A little info about me is that my 2 sons and I moved here from the Minneapolis area in 2003 and that same year I sent my oldest to Cabrini's preschool program...we've been a part of the Lourdes Family ever since! My oldest, Miguel, graduated Lourdes High School in 2017 and my youngest, Josiah, graduated in 2020. I worked in the after school care program at Cabrini when my boys went to school there (way back when) and then I came back to be an assistant in the daycare and preschool starting during the 2014-15 school year. I continued in that same role for the 2015-16 school year and then became the daycare director at Cabrini in the 2016-17 school year. In my free time I love watching my boys play sports, I enjoy working in my yard and doing projects around the house and just having treasured family time. We also have an old, sweet, halitosis filled, dog named Myndi and a slightly crazy rabbit named Marshmellow (aka Mel). I can't wait to be a part of you and your child's school year and have some fun!

Random thoughts by Mrs. Jungwirth
What would the students be surprised to find out about you? I love the water! I started swimming at 6 months old, water skiing when I was 3 and when I was 9 my family took a several month boat trip on the Mississippi River (and several other rivers) from St. Paul, MN. all the way down to almost the Gulf of Mexico. Oh and at one point I wanted to be a charter boat captain on the Mississippi River (actually, I still wouldn't mind doing that!).

What would your last meal be? A poterhouse steak fresh off the grill with corn on the cob, butter garlic noodles and fried pickles....oh and a slice of cheesecake!

Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by? Everything happens for a reason! Some things are tough to understand, but I know somehow it's God's plan and was just meant to be!

Mrs. Nicol Balda | Daycare Assistant

I have two children, Adelle and Charlotte who attend Lourdes Elementary and a husband who is an alumni of Lourdes as well.
We live right here in Oshkosh and enjoy spending time at our pond, hiking at state parks, visiting family cottages, cabins and condo's all around Wisconsin and also staying in and watching a good movie together as a family.

Random thoughts by Mrs. Balda
What would students be surprised to find out about me? I LOVE scary movies so much...They are the only ones I can actually stay awake for. We have an annual "Scary Movie Night" at my house every October and my whole family comes over. We have chili and apple pie and wear super comfy clothes and just watch spooky movies all night.

What are some pets you've had or would like to own?  Growing up I had pets all the time. I am a huge animal lover. While in elementary school I had about 15 pets. Anything from mice, to a baby squirrel we rescued, a crow we nursed back to life and my all time favorite...our mallard duck "Gomer," who we raised from a tiny duckling. Of course we had dogs , cats, guinea pigs, birds, rabbits, snakes, lizards and all that good stuff as well. Currently I have a Boxer named Tilly and we have plans to get another one soon.

Ms. Kennedy Clark | 3 & 4 Year Old Preschool Assistant

I was born in Oshkosh WI, and have lived here all my life. I went to Oakwood Elementary, Carl Trager Middle School and Oshkosh West High School where I ran cross country.  I also attended preschool at St. Elizabeth Seton in the same room that I now teach in! I love to dance and took 12 years at Richards Dance Studio where I danced, tap, jazz and ballet. I have 2 older brothers, my oldest brother is married and they have two young children, which I get to spend time with quite often.

I worked at Festival Foods in Tot Spot during high school and have worked at Lourdes Academy in the After School Care Program for the past three years. I am also a playground leader through the Rec Dept. summer program at Emmeline Cook. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to work with children.

In my free time, I like to do anything outside. I like to cut the grass and shovel snow, which is a good thing living in Wisconsin. My family is very close and I enjoy spending time with them. I like to travel; growing up my family would spend a week in Florida every spring. I even had the opportunity to go to Italy and would like to go back again someday. I have traveled throughout the United States; I like the warm states the best. My family has a cabin near Tomahawk where I go to often. I like walking in the woods, sitting by the fire and four wheeling. Fall is my favorite time of year to be up there.

I am very excited for the privilege of working in the 3 and 4 year preschool classes and implementing my ideas to make learning fun and exciting.

I love growing and dabbling in preserving our own food as well as raising our own animals (chickens and turkeys). In addition, making things from scratch such as breads and biscuits even though I am not the best at them.

Ms. Karen Coats | 3rd Grade

I am in my 8th year of teaching 3rd grade at Lourdes Academy Elementary. I taught 2nd grade for ten years prior.

For the past 10 years, I have been foster mom, which has changed my life. In 2011 two beautiful girls entered my life and heart. Two years later was the best day of my life when I was able to adopt them. I am so lucky that they are able to go to school with me. Finley is in 5th grade and Payton is in 3rd grade.

I love to play sports, especially softball and kickball. Sports are slowing down for me as my kiddos are getting older; it is their turn now.  If you have had me as a teacher you know I love to take pictures! One of my favorite hobbies of is scrap booking, although sometimes it is hard going through the thousands of pictures I have taken!!

Random thoughts from Ms. Coats
Are there any embarrassing teaching moments you’re willing to share? What are they? When I was student teaching, I made ooblick with a second grade class and added the whole container of green food coloring in (Iwanted it REALLY green). Well it was definitely green and stained their whole hands solid green!! I needed to send my first note home to parents apologizing that night!

What are some pets you’ve had or would like to own? I’ve owed dogs, rabbits, fish, and turtles. I’ve always wanted a pet monkey!

I am a Lourdes Academy graduate. I have worked at Miles Kimball as a proofreader and at Ganther Construction Company as a secretary/payroll clerk. For one year I had the pleasure of being the religious education coordinator at St. Mary's in Oshkosh before embarking on my career as a teacher. I had the joy of team teaching 4th and 5th grade with Carol Morris for twelve years before moving on to teach 3rd and 4th grade. My family consists of my husband Pat and my three boys Christopher, Jacob, and David. When I am not teaching I enjoy water aerobics, yoga, gardening, and traveling to many places on the back of our Harley motorcycle.

Random thoughts from Mrs. Krohn
What would the students be surprised to find out about you? Students would be surprised to know that I work security in the summer for EAA and have worked for Country/Rock USA. I have flown in a hot air balloon with Mrs. Morris and I am a volunteer at the Grand Opera House.

What would your last meal be? My last meal would be stroganoff with wild rice and a root beer float.

Are there any embarrassing teaching moments you’re willing to share? What are they? My embarrassing teaching moment was when I sent out a note to tell the parents the kids would be shopping at Santa's Secret Shop, and instead the computer typed Satan's Secret Shop.

Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by? I live my life thinking about what others have going on in their lives. Everyone has something going on. Don't judge others until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Treat others the way you would want to be treated.  Try and leave this world a little better than you found it. Everyone is homeless, and we are all on the path to go home. Friends are important so don't catch and release them.

Mrs. Carol Morris | 4th Grade

Upon graduation I taught in Waukesha, WI and later in Rosendale, WI. I began teaching for Lourdes Academy (then known as  Unified Catholic Schools of Oshkosh) in the fall of 1999. This coming school year will begin my 21st year in this system, all of which have been as a 4th grade teacher. My husband, Jerry, and I (both Lourdes alumni) are parents of three boys, AJ, Bennett and Nathan. They are all away pursuing their dreams so our nest is empty (alas). AJ and his wife Laura live in Texas with their two children, Max and Ayla. Bennett and Amy are in Sheboygan with Caitlin and Alison. This joyfully gives me the title of grandma four times over. Nathan mostly makes his home in Milwaukee, but since he is able to work remotely, he is known to be a modern day nomad from time to time.

When I have the opportunity I enjoy travel, hanging out with family, and gardening.

Random thoughts from Mrs. Morris
What are some pets you’ve had or would like to own? I have a pet rock. Rocky has been with me since the mid 1970's. He is well trained and can be left alone without getting into any trouble. There are a few tricks that he can do very well such playing dead, and he will stay when commanded to do so. With a little encouragement he will even roll over. Rocky is very quiet and has made the perfect classroom pet for many years.

What are your “trapped on a desert island” books or movies? The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran is a prose poetry book that speaks everything about life including love, children, giving, marriage, work, death, religion, joy, sorrow, etc. Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom is a memoir about a series of visits he made to a former sociology professor who loses his life to ALS. Another of Mitch Albom's books is entitled The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It follows the life and death of a maintenance man. In heaven he encounters five people who had a significant impact on him while he was alive. There are many other books by this remarkable author which would make good company on a desert island.

Mr. Chad Ellis | Music

Hi everyone! I was born in Neenah, Wisconsin and since childhood have been interested in music and the beautiful sounds that it offers. Starting out on the piano at a young age I moved over to violin and then to guitar. In 2005, I moved to Hollywood, California to receive my Bachelor’s degree at the Musicians Institute, where I studied guitar and music from some of the best contemporary musicians in the world.

I lived in Los Angeles, CA for 12 years and continue to play in various bands and have recorded several records with different acts. My style of playing ranges from jazz, funk, pop, Latin and everything in between. Two notable performances have been opening up for the legendary rock band, Jefferson Starship and playing guitar in the MTV show The Electric Barbarellas.  I also recently played in the award winning L.A. musical, Mulholland Christmas Carol.

Through my playing experience I have learned the trade from hands on experience and want to share this knowledge with my students. I have taught several notable musicians, songwriters and actors. When not teaching at Lourdes or teaching private lessons I maintain an active schedule as a recording engineer, producer and continue to play live. I also love hanging with my cats and guinea pigs and loves collecting Legos.

With my wife, Erica (Lourdes Alum, Class of 1995) and our two children, Charley and Ryder, we love to travel and play sports.  Soccer is our favorite and takes up a lot of our time. We are able to recharge each summer in Florida to get ready for the next school year.

Even though I am a transplant to Oshkosh via Milwaukee, I could not imagine being a part of any other school system. Go Knights!

Random thoughts from Mr. Mullen
What are your “trapped on a desert island” books or movies? If I was to be stranded on an island, I would use my Netflix account to watch some of my favorite movies and series (obviously the island is technologically equipped for this situation). As a child of the ‘80s, my choices would be Stand By Me, Goonies, and ET. After that, I’d watch all three seasons of Stranger Things to remind myself of how awesome the ‘80s really were.

What would the students be surprised to find out about you? Something my students are surprised to learn about me is that I come from a strong Catholic family of seven children. All five girls and two boys attended Catholic schools all the way through high school. I am the baby of the family by ten minutes as my twin sister, Robyn, was born first. We were the first twins of the Bicentennial born in Milwaukee - woohoo!

Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by? My teaching motto is: Set them up to succeed. I take this approach because as teachers we lead the students toward the answers. They use the resources and knowledge gained from us to achieve success in the classroom and in life. Success may come in different forms based on the individual students, but I truly enjoy sharing in the process.

Ms. Mary Jayne Landowski | Art

Before coming to Lourdes, I worked at the high school level for several years teaching students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. After my two children were born, I took a job closer to home teaching in special education at the elementary level and also taught many art classes in the Fox Valley.

My family has been involved with community theater for many years. I tend to do the scenic painting for the stage sets, and my two girls have been acting for many years. My oldest daughter is a senior this year and my younger daughter is a sophomore at Appleton North High School.

I love to travel and have had the opportunity to see many European countries. Some of the highlights have been, swimming in the Nile River and the Mediterranean Sea. I try to incorporate a little of that travel into my art projects.  It is my goal to introduce art from all over the globe.

In my free time I like to garden and spend time with friends.

Miss Micaela Tomasi | Building Aide

I grew up in the Appleton area where I graduated from Xavier High School. After high school, I attended Wheaton College where I received my B.A. in Christian Education and Ministry. To complement my degree, I am pursuing my Wisconsin Elementary Teaching License. I am so excited to learn from the teachers at Lourdes while assisting in their classrooms this year!

Outside of school, I enjoy running, reading, and traveling. My mom and I are “running buddies” and in 2019 she inspired me to complete my first half marathon. The library is one of my very favorite places to be on the weekends, especially in one of their cozy fireside corners with a good book. While there are still quite a few destinations on my travel bucket list, I often opt to return to New York City for the art, food, music, and (most importantly) ice cream.

Random thoughts from Miss Tomasi

What are your “trapped on a desert island” books or movies? My favorite children’s book is The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo, so that would have to come. I also love reading anything by C.S. Lewis, Jane Austen, or Truman Capote. For movies, I’d be happy with a full library of Disney’s animated classics.

What are some pets you’ve had or would like to own? I love animals and have cared for many furry and scaly friends over the years. Someday, I hope to get a goat… and maybe a pony to keep it company.

What would the students be surprised to find out about you? I’m a huge fan of the Kratt brothers and love to watch their shows with my niece and nephew. A few years ago, I actually got to meet Chris and Martin Kratt and we exchanged our favorite animals!

Mrs. Susan Trofka | Literacy

I  taught in the Oshkosh Area School District for 13 years before teaching at Lourdes Academy.

I have behave been involved with the Lourdes Academy system for a number of years, both as a parent and a teacher. My husband and I have four children. Our three sons are LA graduates and our daughter is currently a LA middle school student. I have played a number of roles at Lourdes Academy, first as a kindergarten teacher, then a building aide, and now a Literacy Coach.

As a literacy coach/ resource teacher I collaborate with classroom teachers based on students' needs, behaviors and abilities, focusing on core subject academics. Services are provided to the students to help the student be successful and reach their potential.

Services vary from offering differentiated instruction strategies and resources for the classroom setting, co-teaching in the classroom,  as well as giving direct instruction to students, and providing accomodations and or modifications for the students' success.  Providing opportunities for all learners and learning styles helps to diversify instruction and meet the needs of our students.

Mrs. Linda Wolfgram | Technology

I am the technology teacher at Lourdes Academy Elementary School. I am also the webmaster and work with Powerschool and technology support at the Elementary building. I have been part of the Lourdes Academy family for 12 years.

I have been married to my husband Mat for 24 years and we have three amazing kids. Calyn our oldest is starting her last year (fingers crossed) at UW-Green Bay, Cora is in her first year at UW-Milwaukee and our youngest Charlie is a senior at Neenah High School. My free time is spent watching Charlie play basketball and enjoying our boat on the summer weekends.

I have a huge passion for technology and an even bigger passion for working with kids...even when they ask if I'm dressed up as Nanny McPhee...or tell me that I look like their grandma. I look forward to learning more from them every day.

What would your last meal be? A tenderloin oscar from The Roxy with a twice baked potato.

In which other teacher’s class would you like to enroll, even for a day? Why? Without a doubt it would be Mrs. Dolan, who teaches English at Lourdes High School. She is so fun to listen to and she adds humor to her class and has so many great stories to keep you interested.
