Mrs. Samantha Van Zeeland

Elementary School Counselor

Hi there! I'm Sam Van Zeeland, the Elementary School Counselor at Lourdes Academy. My role is to help students in the areas of academic, career, and social/emotional development. I regularly meet with students individually or in small groups to work on various issues, and I also conduct lessons every other week in 4K through 5th grade.

  • What is your favorite part of your job? The best part of my job is getting to develop a personal relationship with every single student in the school. They are always brightening my day and making me laugh. I feel very blessed to be a part of the Lourdes family and work with all of these amazing students!
  • What is something people would never guess about you? I think some people would be surprised to know that behind my sweet exterior, I have quite a competitive side! It usually comes out while watching Packers or Brewers games, but it also slips out when I'm playing any sort of trivia or board game.

I am here to provide the students and staff someone to talk to on a daily basis - someone that can help them to process and walk through any problems they be experiencing, and also pray with them and for them. I also help coordinate service opportunities, and opportunities for students to participate in their faith outside of the classroom.

  • What is your favorite part of your job? Morning prayer and one-on-one's with students.
  • What is something people would never guess about you? I played and coached rugby for over ten years.
