Affording a Lourdes Academy Education
We are committed to helping all families send their children to Lourdes Academy, regardless of financial ability. Below are some available options:
All system families are eligible and encouraged to apply for need-based scholarships and financial aid. For the 2018-2019 school year, through generous donors, Lourdes Academy awarded nearly $250,000 in financial aid. Many financial aid opportunities are available to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Applications for financial aid are available online through the TADS website.
In-vicariate Tuition* (2018-19)
Monthly (11 months; August-June)
K – 5
6 – 8
9 – 12
*Out of vicariate tuition is an additional $1,150 per student
Semester (August & January) and Quarterly (August, November, February, and May) payment plans are also available.
Lourdes Academy, grades K - 12, participates in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP). The Wisconsin Parental Choice Program allows students who reside in a Wisconsin school district to attend any participating private school if certain eligibility criteria are met and the students are selected in the random drawing conducted by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI). The private school, on behalf of the pupil's parent or guardian, receives a state aid payment for each eligible student, essentially the student attends tuition-free. Once a student is awarded a voucher with Lourdes Academy the voucher follows the child through grade 12; an annual application is required each year for residency and prior year school attendance verification.
Families who have an Adjusted Gross Income for 2018 at or below 220% of the federal poverty level (see chart below) are financially eligible to receive a voucher for their student to attend a private or religious school through WPCP.
Current Lourdes Academy students are eligible to apply for a voucher when they are entering kindergarten, 1st, and 9th grades.
Consider applying for a voucher through the Wisconsin DPI website. The open application period for the 2019-2020 school year is February 1 through April 20, 2019.
For more information on the WPCP program or assistance applying, contact Lois Reischl, Director of Business Services, (920) 426-3626, x531 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

529 Tuition Savings Program (Edvest)
Effective Jan. 1, 2018, private/religious school families can use 529 college savings (i.e. Edvest) to cover K-12 expenses, such as tuition and books. Earnings on 529 investments are not subject to federal taxes. And, because 529 funds qualify for the annual gift tax exclusion of $15,000 individuals can invest in the fund for grandchildren as well as children. Individuals can use up to $10,000 of their 529 earnings annually to cover K-12 private school costs. Talk to a tax or investment adviser to learn how you may be able to use this tool to plan for your child's private school expenses.
Wisconsin Tax Deductions
The State of Wisconsin has income tax deductions for elementary and secondary school tuition expenses. Taxpayers are able to claim their paid private and religious school tuition expenses of up to $4,000 for each dependent child in K-grade 8 and up to $10,000 for each dependent child in grades 9-12.
Summer Student Employment
Lourdes Academy provides temporary summer employment opportunities for students age 14+, entering 9th-12th grade. There are openings for 10 to 12 student employees. Placement will be at one of the following locations:
- Lourdes Academy Elementary School
- Lourdes Academy Middle/High School
The work schedule will begin the first week of summer vacation through approximately the first week in August, Monday through Thursday, with no work the week of July 4th.
Scrip is a gift card fundraising program. Lourdes Academy buys gift cards/certificates from local and national retailers at a discount and then sells them to you at face value. The profits are split 70%-30% between you and Lourdes Academy. Many families budget their groceries, gas, clothing, dining, gifts and travel with Scrip cards. The profits, referred to as rebates, are credited to your tuition account. Learn more about Scrip here.
Tuition Referral Bonus
Many of our families hear about Lourdes Academy through a personal referral from a current Lourdes Academy family. In many cases, these existing families not only generate initial interest but also provide the support and enthusiasm to promote Lourdes Academy, which ultimately leads to enrolling in the system. To say thank you to these families, Lourdes offers a tuition voucher ($50 to $150) to the referral family when a new student(s) enrolls at Lourdes Academy.
Become a Host Family
Hosting an international student is a positive, life-changing experience. You will learn about another culture as well as your own, through the eyes of a teenager from another country. Students come with their own insurance, spending money and tuition, and many offer a monthly stipend or tuition credit for the host family. Learn more here.
